Sunrise over Kanchenjunga, the glass Skywalk
and the monasteries of West Sikkim.
Pelling, in West Sikkim, is famous for its close-up sunrise views of Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world. The town is home to the Chenrezig statue with India's first glass Skywalk, the 17th-century Pemayangtse Monastery and the ruins of Rabdentse, the second capital of the Sikkim kings. Nearby are the sacred Khecheopalri Lake, the Rimbi and Kanchenjunga waterfalls and Yuksom, where the Goecha La trek begins. On the way from Gangtok, stop at Ravangla for its giant Buddha Park.
