5 Days / 4 Nights The Abode of the Clouds
Thundering waterfalls, living root bridges and
the crystal-clear river of Dawki.
Meghalaya, the "abode of the clouds", is a land of rolling green hills, deep gorges and some of the wettest places on earth. Shillong, the capital, is a lively hill station of pine forests, lakes and cafes. Cherrapunji (Sohra) is famous for Nohkalikai, India's tallest plunge waterfall, and for the living root bridges grown by the Khasi people, while at Dawki the Umngot river is so clear that the boats seem to float in the air. Add Mawlynnong, often called the cleanest village in Asia, and the waterfalls of the Jaintia Hills for a perfect nature holiday.

The waterfalls are at their fullest in the June - September monsoon, when Cherrapunji is one of the wettest places on earth: beautiful, but expect heavy rain and misty views.
