4 Days / 3 Nights The Hill Capital of Sikkim
Monasteries, glacial lakes and Kanchenjunga views
from the gateway to Sikkim.
Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, sits on a ridge at 1,650 m with the Kanchenjunga range on the horizon. It is a clean, friendly hill town where prayer flags flutter above busy cafes, monks walk the lanes to Enchey and Rumtek monasteries and the car-free MG Marg comes alive every evening. Gangtok is the base for day trips to the glacial Tsomgo Lake, Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir and the Nathu La pass on the old border with Tibet, and the starting point for journeys to North Sikkim, the Old Silk Route and Pelling.

From January to March Tsomgo Lake is frozen and often snowbound - magical, but heavy snowfall can close the road for a day or two. The July - September monsoon brings landslides, so keep a spare day in your plan.
