3 Days / 2 Nights Where the Buddha Attained Enlightenment
The holiest site in Buddhism, with the UNESCO-listed
Mahabodhi Temple and monasteries from across Asia.
Bodhgaya in Bihar is the place where Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree more than 2,500 years ago, making it the most sacred pilgrimage site in the Buddhist world. The Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rises beside a descendant of the original Bodhi tree. Around it, countries including Bhutan, Thailand, Japan and Tibet have built beautiful monasteries, and the 80-foot Great Buddha Statue sits in calm meditation. Nearby Rajgir and the ruins of Nalanda University make excellent day trips.
